Romantic Aperitif in Monopoli

Discover the charm of a romantic aperitif in Monopoli, with a sea view and Puglian flavors.

Romantic Aperitif in Monopoli

We wanted a romantic aperitif, something simple with the right vibe. We were in Bari for a morning fair. In the afternoon, we decided to head to Monopoli by train. The trip was quick and easy. I'd choose it again to avoid the parking issues, often tricky in seaside towns.

Arriving in Monopoli, it felt like typical Adriatic towns: a port, soft light in the late afternoon, and a slower pace than the city. There were lots of people around, but it wasn't chaotic. It felt like a small festival spread between the port and the center. For an aperitif, there are plenty of options. The city is well-equipped for tourists, with bars everywhere and many outdoor tables between the port and the center. Despite this, we already had a place in mind, recommended by someone who knows the area well.

We went to TuttoAposto, a small wine bar overlooking the old port. The view, especially at sunset, does most of the work. It's not a place built to impress, and you appreciate it for that: a cozy environment, perfect for those seeking something calm.

We had drinks while watching the boats in the harbor. Here, the classic choice is a spritz or a glass of Puglian wine with snacks. Many tables had platters and friselle. I went for something different and got a glass of rum. I wasn't driving, so it was fine. It cost 12 euros. Not cheap, but the setting justifies it.

In Monopoli, aperitifs are generally affordable. Bars show prices around 10-15 euros per person. You can get a drink with snacks. For couples, sharing a platter is often a balanced choice.

What I loved most was the atmosphere. No rush, no loud music, just the sea's sound and soft conversations. If you want a romantic aperitif without fuss, this works well.

In the end, choosing the train was a great decision for the return. No worries, just a nice evening walk to the station and back to Bari stress-free.
