The best places to visit in Trani at night
Discover the best venues in Trani for an unforgettable night.
In Trani, the nightlife isn't as wild as in other Puglia cities. The vibe is different: more relaxed, slower, often tied to the port and the cathedral area. After sunset, many people gather there, among outdoor tables and lights reflecting on the water. It's not a city where you rush from one place to another. Instead, you stop, chat, and enjoy the sea view. The atmosphere differs from cities like Bari or Monopoli, where evening drinks are livelier.
During my visit, I stopped at two places that seemed perfect for an evening out: Luna di Sabbia and Portulaca, both in the historic center. These simple experiences capture how an evening in Trani can be.
The Luna di Sabbia stands out from other bars in Trani's center. It's more than just a spot to drink; it feels like a small cultural lounge. Inside, there are bookshelves, and outside, tables face the street, framed by an iron gate at the entrance.
In the evening, the setting is cozy. Warm lights illuminate the light stone facade typical of the historic center, giving the place an intimate feel. The tables are few and close together, creating an informal atmosphere. You see people chatting, someone browsing a book, others just sitting and sipping drinks calmly.
When we stopped by, it felt like a place for both locals and curious visitors. It's not your typical noisy cocktail bar. The vibe is relaxed, and people come more for the atmosphere than to stay out late.
My wife and I ordered two spritzes and sat at the outdoor tables.
Luna di Sabbia is a great choice if you're looking for something different from the more touristy spots at the port. It's quieter and has a slightly bohemian feel.
Another evening, we went to Portulaca Cocktail Bar & Food, located right in the port area. The atmosphere here is completely different. Outdoor tables, boats docked nearby, and the illuminated cathedral create a pleasant setting, especially when it's still warm. It's the perfect spot for an aperitif or a drink after dinner while watching people stroll along the quay.
We had two glasses of white wine and spent about 30 euros in total. Prices are pretty similar to other places in the area. There's also a good selection of cocktails, beers, and digestifs. Plenty of choices.
Trani in the evening isn't noisy or hectic. Its charm lies in its simplicity: a walk along the port, a few spots to grab a drink, and the cathedral's silhouette over the sea. After exploring the city during the day, with its alleys and historical monuments, stopping at one of these places is a nice way to end the day calmly.
