Parking Guide for Champoluc Ayas During High Season

The Val d'Ayas ends here, dominated by Monte Rosa's high peaks. The Evançon stream runs through it, and the landscape keeps changing. You go from glaciers and vertical rock walls to gentler, open meadows and pastures.

The area is dotted with many villages, each with its own character. The most famous is Champoluc, at 1,568 meters. In winter, it's full of skiers. In summer, people come to walk or relax. Then there's Antagnod, a bit higher at 1,710 meters, where the town hall is. It offers a stunning view of the entire valley.

Don't miss Frachey and Saint-Jacques, plus Crest and Mascognaz. These places still have many real rascards. Those are old wooden and stone houses typical of the area, well-preserved, showing how life was up here.

The locations share one thing: parking can be pricey 😄. So, my advice: if you're not in a rush, drive around a bit and look for free parking.

I'll suggest some main solutions, both paid and free, hoping to help. The main tip is always the same: arrive early or during the low season. Parking is much easier then. But in high season, these tips can really save your day! 😄

Frachey, a few kilometers from Champoluc, has a large parking area near the cable car. It connects directly to the Monterosa Ski area. It's a practical option and often less crowded than Champoluc, especially during peak season.

But there's one thing to consider: the cost. The 8-euro fee is quite high, especially if you don't use the facilities. That said, the parking is super convenient. It's a great access point to Saint-Jacques-des-Allemands and many trails. One trail even leads directly to the Blue Lakes. The spaces are spacious and well-organized, which is crucial on busy days.

The Barmasc Parking

Until early 2025, parking was free. But since February, it's paid. The fee is 8 euros for the whole day. There might be an extra charge of about 2 euros per car. It's best to have cash, though you can pay by card with the attendant.

The parking is well-equipped. There are restrooms and drinking fountains, handy for hikers.

Free Parking on Via Taluc

Parking on Via Taluc is free! It's a great option if you want no costs. But remember, it's often full, especially on weekends and during peak times.
