Magical Stroll in Brindisi

The evening stroll on Lungomare Regina Margherita in Brindisi is a magical experience, a social ritual that unites locals and tourists in a unique atmosphere.

Magical Stroll in Brindisi

We were visiting the Duomo di Brindisi Duomo di Brindisiwith my wife. We admired the cathedral's facade and interior. Then, we noticed a side street leading to the port. "Shall we see where it goes?" she asked with her curious smile. So, without a plan, we followed that narrow alley, letting our instincts guide us.

After just a few meters, suddenly, we found ourselves at the top of the Scalinata di Virgilio. I didn't expect it: a breathtaking view opened up before us. I leaned over and saw the Lungomare Regina Margherita in all its beauty. It's a wide, orderly avenue with palm trees lined up. The streetlights hinted at the evening's magic, and the view of the inner harbor was truly beautiful.

From up there, you quickly understand why locals love this promenade. It's the cherry on top of a city that's been a delightful discovery. The view is fantastic: boats gently swaying, and cafes lining the walkway.

The evening stroll: a Brindisi ritual

We descended the steps and immersed ourselves in the waterfront's sunset atmosphere. It's a unique experience. Every evening, the city comes alive, and the Lungomare becomes a stage for a social ritual. Families, young people, and couples gather here. Everyone enjoys the sea breeze as the sky turns pink and orange.

The sea's scent mixes with ice cream aromas. Famous gelaterias attract tourists and locals with artisanal ice creams. Bars fill up with people enjoying cocktails and local wines. Restaurants offer Brindisi cuisine.

Couples walk hand in hand, kids play and laugh, friends meet for an aperitif.

In summer, the promenade hosts events, street artists, and evening markets. It's often the stage for city events. But even on a regular evening, hearing people's voices and seeing the sky reflect on the water is a pleasant experience.

One thing that really struck me is the area near the Grande Albergo Internazionale. There are very small bars, almost anonymous from the inside, but they set up tables outside, right on the promenade. The effect is really interesting: these little places turn into lively meeting spots, with people sitting and watching the sea, and they often have live singing.

Don't Miss

If you come to Brindisi, treat yourself to this: climb the Scalinata di Virgilio, look out, and see the promenade from above. By day, you can see across the bay to the war memorial. At night, everything comes alive and gets interesting.
