What to Do in Aosta in the Evening After Dinner
Let me tell you what the evening atmosphere of the city is like, where to stroll, where to have a drink and why, in my opinion, it's one of the most enjoyable moments to experience it.
If you're planning a visit to Aosta, you might wonder if it's worth staying after dinner. In my experience, yes, it is. But don't expect nightlife like in big cities. Aosta has a different evening vibe.
Restaurants fill up between 7:30 and 9:00 PM. Most bars and places in the center close between midnight and 2:00 AM. Outdoor music is regulated, so the city isn't noisy or chaotic. If you want a peaceful evening stroll, a drink, and a mountain town vibe, Aosta won't disappoint.
How to spend the evening in Aosta
After dinner, the best way to enjoy the city is by walking in the historic center. Piazza Émile Chanoux remains the heart of city life even in the evening. Under the arcades, you'll find several places open, and especially in good weather, many people sit at the tables.
From here, you can head to Via Porta Pretoria and reach the Arch of Augustus. The illuminated Roman monuments have a different charm at night. The center is compact, so it's easy to explore on foot.
During my walk, I stopped at Birreria B63 in Aosta's center. The place is modern and welcoming. The staff is very helpful with beer recommendations. The kitchen impressed me positively. It's not your typical pub menu. The dishes are well-crafted in both ingredients and presentation. If I return to Aosta, I'd definitely go back.
If you prefer wine, near Piazza Émile Chanoux, on Via De Challand, there's L'Uva e un Quarto. It's a wine bar with an elegant and detailed atmosphere, perfect for tasting wines from the Aosta Valley.
But what I liked most wasn't a single place. It was the overall atmosphere of the city. I never felt any confusion. You feel the calm typical of alpine towns. You walk relaxed, chat at tables, stop by monuments, and everything moves at a slower pace.
In my opinion, this is why Aosta is worth a visit. It's not a city trying to impress with nightlife. It's a place where you immediately feel at ease. Walking through its tidy, lit, and well-kept streets, I almost felt at home. It's intimate, welcoming, and relaxing, making you want to keep walking.
If you're looking for real nightlife, with clubs open late, you'll need to go just outside the city. About 5 km from the center is the Fashion Club, one of the area's main nightlife spots.
