Bari Airport: Useful Information

Bari's Karol Wojtyła International Airport is in Palese, about 8 km from the city center. It's convenient for reaching Bari and as a starting point for popular Puglia spots like Polignano a Mare, Alberobello, and Matera.

To get from the airport to Bari's center and around the region, you've got plenty of options. These range from private cars to public transport.

The FR2 metro train connects the airport directly to Bari's central station. The trip takes about 15 minutes. It's practical for avoiding traffic. Tickets cost €5.30, and the train goes straight to the city center. But trains aren't very frequent, about every 50 minutes. So, check the schedule ahead.

Alternatively, there's a shuttle bus service available daily. The shuttle links Bari Palese Airport to the train station in about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Tickets cost €5 per ride and can be bought on the bus or at authorized sellers.

This is handy, especially for evening arrivals or when train times don't match your flight.

Besides the shuttle, there's the AMTAB 16 urban line connecting the airport to Bari's center. It takes 40 to 60 minutes, but it's the cheapest option if you're not in a hurry. I'd skip it, though, as the savings are minimal compared to the shuttle.

Bari Airport serves many national and European routes. Airlines like Ryanair, Volotea, Lufthansa, and British Airways use it. Major domestic destinations include Rome, Milan, Palermo, and Catania. International flights go to cities like Munich, Paris, Valletta, London, and Istanbul. At certain times, long-haul flights are available, including connections to New York.

The airport offers various parking options, suitable for both short and long stays.

For short-term parking, rates range from 2.80 € to 3.80 € per hour. The first 15 minutes are free. Overall, it's a reasonable cost, similar to other airports.

For longer stays, long-term parking is available. It costs about 7.50 € per day. The weekly rate can go up to around 45 €.
