Where to Park in Alberobello

Guide to parking in Alberobello with rates and services.

Where to Park in Alberobello

My wife always wants to visit the trulli in Alberobello. I admit, I'd rather be at the beach. Puglia has amazing ones. But she's into architecture and loves the view. So, our first year married, we celebrated Valentine's Day in Alberobello😜.

The first few times I went to Alberobello, parking was a nightmare. Narrow streets, people everywhere. We drove in circles for half an hour, and she got nervous.

Then, with experience, we found the solution: the station area.

The discovery that changed our visits

Now we always park near the train station. It's a bit out of the way, about a kilometer from the historic center. But you can find free spots, and it's a quiet area. There are several spaces along Via Cadore and nearby lots.

Sure, you have to walk 10-15 minutes to reach the trulli, but it's a nice walk. And most importantly: no stress, no fines. The traffic wardens in Alberobello are very efficient 😎.

Even in peak season--July, August, Christmas--there's always a spot. Not always convenient, but it's there. And that makes all the difference.

Parking without worries

One thing that always reassures me: Alberobello is so crowded that leaving the car on the street, even for 2-3 hours, is always safe. The car is always in view, with a constant flow of people.

Even when we leave the car near the station or on the outer streets, we've never worried.

Why I avoid the center

I've learned that driving into the historic center isn't worth it. The streets are narrow; it's a real challenge, better to avoid.

Yes, there are paid parking spots right in the heart of the village--Largo Martellotta, Via Indipendenza, Via Monte S. Michele. They only cost 1.50 €/hour, but in summer, they're full by 10 AM.

In the evening, parking becomes free, but it's rarely available.

Alternatives if the station is full

Over the years, we've found other solutions for busy days:

Via Viterbo and Via Barsento: quiet residential areas, free parking, 5-10 minutes walk to the center.

Zona Palazzetto dello Sport (Via Putignano): good for short stops, though a bit farther.

If you're traveling by camper

It's not our case, but many visit Puglia by camper. There are paid equipped areas for them:

Area Sosta Camper "Al Trullo" (Via Monte Pertica). Just 500 meters from the trulli.

Area Camper Parking Service (on the road to Noci): large, monitored, surrounded by greenery.

For short stops, there's also Via Putignano (Zona Palazzetto dello Sport), free but without services. Overnight parking in the center isn't allowed, so it's better to use equipped areas.

Parking for the disabled

If you need reserved spots, you'll find them at:

Largo Martellotta (4 spots with easy access)

Via Cavour (near the Tourist Office)

Outside the Museo del Territorio

What I've realized

In the end, the key to enjoying Alberobello is simple: don't look for the closest parking. It's better to park a bit farther away.

When we reach the trulli, my wife lights up, and I check our steps: the goal is always 10,000 steps a day!
