Valentine's Day in Alberobello

Alberobello is an ideal destination for Valentine's Day, with romantic trulli and magical atmospheres.

Valentine's Day in Alberobello

When I suggested spending Valentine's Day in Alberobello, I thought my wife would choose a hotel with a spa. But she surprised me. She preferred a farmhouse in the countryside. "You know I love nature," she said. So, we found ourselves in the quiet of the Valle d'Itria, away from the chaos, surrounded by ancient olive trees and stone walls.

Alberobello on Valentine's Day: a fairy-tale town

Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site, looks like a postcard. The trulli with cone roofs, the white stone shining in the sun, and the narrow, quiet streets all celebrate love 🤗.

In February, there's a big advantage: it's less crowded. No lines, no tourist groups, no parking problems (I know where to park now). You can walk hand in hand, stop to window shop, or sit in a quiet corner.

The weather is mild, though it can be chilly. But that chill makes everything cozier. After a walk among the trulli, warming up with a glass of wine or by a fireplace feels special.

My wife's choice: the farmhouse

I read that many places in Alberobello offer romantic Valentine's packages. Elegant hotels with spas, wellness treatments, candlelit dinners with live shows. Bubbly and chocolates in the room, couples massages, and carefully curated atmospheres.

But as I said, my wife politely insisted, "I'd prefer a farmhouse. I want to be in nature."

So, we chose a typical Apulian farmhouse.

We stayed at Agriturismo Masseria Torricella. They welcomed us warmly and proudly explained that all products served are their own, including the wines. Each dish satisfied us, and the quality-price ratio is excellent. Before leaving, we bought their honey and a bottle of wine--I recommend the Primitivo, it's really remarkable.

The farmhouse's location is fantastic, surrounded by greenery and away from noise. There's a nice pool to relax in (in summer!) after a day among the trulli or exploring the countryside. The staff is kind and always available: they make you feel at home, ready to help with anything. It's the kind of hospitality that makes a difference and makes the stay truly special. Keep in mind, there are many places in the village where you can feel good: Puglia is well-organized for tourism.

What to do in Alberobello on Valentine's Day

There's plenty to do, but the beauty is in not rushing. We spent hours walking at the viewpoint. At sunset, when soft lights start to illuminate the white stone, the atmosphere becomes truly magical. You don't need a precise plan: just let curiosity guide you.

If you feel like moving a bit, nearby towns are worth a visit. Locorotondo, Cisternino, Martina Franca are all less than half an hour by car. Each has its charm, its square, its alleys. A short trip can enrich your stay, break the routine without going too far.
