The Sound of Salento

The Locomotive Jazz Festival 2025 offers a unique experience in Salento, combining music, nature, and culture in a journey through enchanting villages and landscapes.

The Sound of Salento

Every summer, Salento transforms into a natural stage where music intertwines with the beauty of the landscape. The Locomotive Jazz Festival, scheduled from July 1 to 8, 2025, represents a unique opportunity to explore this land through sound and nature. It is not just about concerts, but an immersive experience that invites discovery of authentic villages and moments of deep connection with the surrounding environment.

The province of Lecce is the beating heart of the festival, with events unfolding in the most picturesque locations. Each day begins with a walk at 6:00 PM, followed by an open-air concert at 7:15 PM. This simple format allows participants to fully immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere of Salento.

The festival opens on July 1 in Pozzelle, where Irish cellist Naomi Berrill will present her project “Sea Warrior.” Before the concert, participants can enjoy a walk along the waterways, enveloped in the golden light of the late afternoon. This moment of silence and contemplation sets the stage for the musical experience that will follow.

On July 2, the event moves to Acaya, a fortified village that will host Puglian pianist Mario Rosini in the castle square. The visit to the village will be an opportunity to discover local history and architecture before being carried away by Rosini's notes.

On July 3, the festival will stop at Roca Vecchia, where attendees can visit the archaeological area before a concert that will explore mythological themes through music, contrasting “Angels and Demons.” This blend of history and art will make the experience even more captivating.

On July 4, Lecce will welcome the festival in the PatuTala Cupa park, with a musical dedication to Riccardo Tesi. Popular sounds will merge with improvisation, creating a unique atmosphere that celebrates Puglian musical tradition.

On July 5, in Gagliano del Capo, participants can stroll through the village's alleys and attend a performance featuring actor Peppe Servillo and the musicians Avion Travel. This encounter between theater and music promises to be an unforgettable moment.

On July 6, in Giurdignano, participants will explore the menhirs and dolmens, accompanied by the Ghibli project, featuring Nabil Bey and Fabrizio Piepoli. The sounds of the Mediterranean will blend with ancient stories, creating an atmosphere of mystery and wonder.

On July 7, the festival will arrive in Brindisi, where a tribute to the Sailor will take place with a concert on the waterfront rotunda, featuring percussionist Marco Pacassoni. This event represents a moment of celebration of local culture and the beauty of the sea.

The grand finale on July 8 will take place at the marina of San Gregorio, with a sunset walk and music by singer-songwriter Folcast. This event will close the festival in a suggestive way, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of participants.

In addition to the main events, the Locomotive Jazz Festival will offer other special appointments, such as the one on July 27 in Sogliano Cavour with the Banda Santa Cecilia and Raffaele Casarano, and on August 22 at dawn in San Cataldo, directly on the beach. Furthermore, two events in Lecce featuring Fabrizio Bosso on November 28 and Sarah Jane Morris on December 6 will further enrich the program.

The Locomotive Jazz Festival is not just a musical event, but a way of living Salento. Each stop is designed to enhance small towns, landscapes, and slowness, offering an alternative to mass tourism. Music becomes a means to connect with others and oneself, inviting participants to slow down and listen. In an era of frantic travel, the jazz of Salento invites discovery of the true essence of this land, rich in art, emotion, and shared culture.
