Costs for a Night in Locorotondo

When I stayed in Locorotondo, it was Christmas time. The village was full of lights, and the historic center's streets were packed with visitors. On some days, dozens of tourist buses arrived.

I chose to stay right in the center, in a "albergo diffuso" within the village's white houses. It was a beautiful place, making the stay special.

That experience taught me something important: in Locorotondo, it's not just about the cost of staying. Where you choose to stay matters, especially when the village is crowded. During busy times, the historic center can be tough to enjoy. Often, staying just outside the village--in a "masseria" or a house in the Itria Valley countryside--is more pleasant and often cheaper.

This small Itria Valley village has become one of Puglia's most popular destinations in recent years. More travelers use it as a base to explore the area. From here, you can easily reach popular villages like Alberobello, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ostuni, and the Adriatic coast.

With renovated trulli, countryside masserie, and small B&Bs in the historic center, there's a wide range of options. Prices vary a lot throughout the year.

To really understand the cost of staying, check prices season by season.

Low season: the most affordable prices

The low season mainly includes January and February, plus November and part of March (excluding holidays and long weekends).

During these months, Locorotondo is very quiet. Many places stay open, but demand is lower, so prices are more affordable.

A simple B&B or small hotel might cost between 70 and 110 euros per night. Choosing a trullo or an apartment in the village raises prices slightly, between 80 and 130 euros.

The countryside masserie remain charming even in winter, though pools are often unusable. Prices generally range from 90 to 150 euros.

Overall, in the low season, the average cost to stay in Locorotondo is roughly between 85 and 150 euros per night.

Mid-season: the best balance of price and atmosphere

Mid-season includes May, June, September, and October. These are probably the best months to visit the Itria Valley: pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and well-maintained landscapes.

During this time, prices rise compared to winter but remain fairly balanced.

B&Bs in the historic center and small hotels generally cost between 110 and 170 euros per night. Renovated trulli or albergo diffuso structures can cost between 130 and 220 euros.

Massarias with pools, gardens, and more complete services range from 150 to 280 euros.

On average, staying in Locorotondo during these months means spending between 140 and 240 euros per night for a double room.

High season: July and August raise prices

The real price peak hits in summer, especially in July and August, and during busy times like Ferragosto.

During these months, Locorotondo becomes one of the most sought-after destinations in the Itria Valley, and the best places get booked early.

A simple B&B or hotel often starts at 180 euros and can easily reach 300 euros per night.

Staying in a traditional trullo for two people generally costs between 180 and 350 euros, while more luxurious trulli or charming massarias with pools can exceed 400 euros.

The more structured hotels and resorts often range from 280 to 600 euros, with some suites or private villas exceeding 800 euros during the busiest weeks.

Overall, the real average cost in high season is between 220 and 380 euros per night.

In my experience, you can easily explore Locorotondo on foot, and you don't need a car in the center. But if you want to truly visit the Itria Valley, a car becomes useful, and staying just outside the village can be a quieter choice, immersed in the countryside.
