Best Free Parking Options in Brindisi
Find out where to park for free in Brindisi for trains and flights.
We booked a B&B right in the center, on Via dei Templari. Perfect spot for walking, but parking was a big issue. Parking there is nearly impossible. Few spots exist, often taken, and with ZTL and traffic, you might circle for half an hour.
We considered Via Niccolò Taccone, but spots there are limited and paid. The only large, free parking I knew was on Via Spalato. But it meant a long walk to the B&B, not ideal with luggage and heat. In the end, Via Tor Pisana was the best choice. Park there and use the station underpass to quickly reach the other side of the city.
It's much easier to manage than the historic center. Spaces are wider and access is direct, especially if you're coming from outside Brindisi via Via Appia. You don't feel like you're entering a maze of narrow streets, hoping for a free spot.
It's clear that Via Tor Pisana will become a key exchange point. The old railway freight area is turning into a large parking lot. It will have hundreds of parking spaces, a bus terminal, protected walkways, new lighting, and spaces for bikes and micromobility. The goal is clear: park here, then walk or use transit to reach the center. This avoids congestion on the waterfront and inner streets.
The work is already advanced. Once finished, it will greatly improve access to this city area. Via Tor Pisana will be the easiest option for those staying downtown who want to avoid parking stress.
For us, it worked well. Even though the work wasn't fully done, we found parking easily. You park, cross the underpass, and in minutes you're in the historic center. No ZTL anxiety, no constant ticket checks. Plus, we returned in the evening for great pizza nearby. We tried a local treat called "fritta," a calzone with tomato and mozzarella. Simple but tasty. Great products, good prices. This is important too.
We were lucky, though. Each day, we moved the car to go to the beach. Returning in the afternoon, we always found parking easily. This was mostly during the day when turnover is higher.
At night, it's different: parking gets harder. Many residents and local businesses use Via Tor Pisana for parking. It's popular with those who know the city well. So, don't arrive too late, especially in summer months.
