Baia Verde Gallipoli the dream beach for everyone

Baia Verde in Gallipoli is an iconic Salento beach, famous for its crystal-clear sea and lively atmosphere.

Baia Verde Gallipoli the dream beach for everyone

Landing at Brindisi airport with my wife, we had a simple plan: rent a car and head to Gallipoli for a few days by the sea. It's not far, and the coastal drive is smooth. So, we soon found ourselves near the city.

Gallipoli is a well-known destination and can get crowded in summer. But in winter, it's a different story. When I visited for work, the beach was empty, with few people around. Seeing it like that, it's hard to imagine the summer scene. In summer, everything changes. The same beach fills with umbrellas and people.

The city has its own beach near the center. But that day, we wanted to explore just outside town. We didn't feel like driving far; it was hot, and driving wasn't appealing. So, we stayed nearby and chose a close beach: Baia Verde, just 4 kilometers from Gallipoli.

Our first visit was great. We arrived early in the morning, which made all the difference. Parking was easy, and within minutes, we reached the beach. Before us was a stretch of light sand and surprisingly clear water.

The seabed slopes gently, and the water has the clear colors typical of many Salento beaches. Even in the free beach area, we felt comfortable. There was plenty of space, and the atmosphere was quite relaxed.

A few days later, we decided to return, thinking we'd have the same experience. But things were different. This time, we arrived in the late afternoon. Finding parking was much harder. The parking area is large, but it's tough to find a spot nearby when the beach is crowded.

Also, in the afternoon, with so many people, space shrinks. The sand isn't as clean. You often see cigarette butts, plastic cups, or other small trash left by visitors.

However, the sea is Baia Verde's real highlight. Even when crowded, the water stays clear. Just move a few meters from the shore to feel relaxed and isolated. That's why this part of Salento is so loved.

So, if you want to truly enjoy the beach, there are two options. First, arrive very early in the morning. Baia Verde is at its best then: more space, less chaos, and a much nicer atmosphere.

The second option, especially if you arrive in the afternoon or peak summer, is to consider one of the nearby equipped beaches. With the free beach crowded, having an umbrella and loungers at a facility can make the day much more pleasant.

Alternatively, there's another time when Baia Verde shines: the low season. In May, September, and often October, the sea remains beautiful, and there are fewer tourists.
